R*n 119: Lupton

After first asking permission from the Landlord the hash gathered at the Plough. The hare described the dangers that may be experienced en route in great detail pointing to various hills and generally giving the impression of an awkward A - B run.

In fact the run was a glorious circular route leading through pasture land to past Lupton Tower and along to quiet leafy lanes which meandered up to Hutton Roof Church for a beer stop, the hare was shepherding his hash with the aid of 2.4 litres of engine and every time the hash encountered the hare they expected a beer stop. Not to be! The beer stop was in fact at the church and was followed by a wimps rambo split.

The whole hash did the rambos which was just as well as the wimps had not yet been marked. Rambos went down through a wooded glade to the edge of the fell and then upwards on a single track to the top, a long gentle but twisty decent followed along the limestone cliff until meeting the saddle at Farleton Knot.

Turning right and left the route went down through a farmyard under the tops of Farleton knot before again descending though woods to a level road which was followed left for 1½ km until dropping right via tracks to a ford. A sharp climb to the end sorted a few out and as the rain was just threatening the down downs were kept short so that we could thank the landlord for allowing us to use his facilities by downing his Black Sheep Beer and eating his chips.

Down downs were awarded to those that still had dry feet at the end for cheating at the ford and using the nearby bridge, and to the hare for once again organising an absolutely superb run and not doing this write up - honest!!
