R*n 697: Sizergh

Sunday 24th March 2019 at 11:00am Daytime

Trying to do everything in one day meant I arrived at the start just as everyone was leaving so all I knew was that I would be scribe, it was good to find out who was running while catching up with the pack.

The trail had everything a beautiful spring morning should have - farms with baby calves, fields with lambs, friendly walkers, dogs and farmers, budding hedgerows, daffodils, aconites, chinodoxa and siberian squill (had to look them up Twisted and Bone Idle!)

I eventually realised there was no Rambo Wimp split but the experienced hares more than made up for it with plenty of checks, many of them closed with falsies and lots of blobs to search for - oh yes and 2 or even 3 fish hooks. We had a serious road crossing and a beautiful bridge over the River Kent. Lurch was good enough to accompany us for the first half of the trail to ensure that we all survived the trail - unfortunately his phone didn't survive and Lurch had to do yet another fish hook to find it - successfully!

Down downs at the end of the trail - just as the weather got cooler - meant Lurch was punished for fouling the trail - spilling emails and messages all over the fields, Bubbles for conning the Front runners into completing a third fish hook and half a Down down for Cotside and Sir Tom Tom for doing half the trail.

A very sociable meal at the Strickland Arms with Cotside manner educating us all in stop motion animation - converting Bubbles but not the cynical luddite that is Sir Tom Tom.

Thanks Morticia and Lurch for finding us a beautiful trail that was new territory to many of us. We salute you!!
